First Nearshore Project in Vietnam
Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa is to deliver seven SG 4.5-145 turbines to the first phase of construction at an offshore wind farm in Vietnam.
The No. 5 Thanh Hai wind farm project will be located up to five kilometers off the Vietnamese coast and will involve re-engineered onshore wind turbines, adapted to the marine environment. The project will be developed in collaboration with power provider Tan Hoan Cau JSC.
“This first-ever cooperation with Siemens Gamesa across the value chain from turbine supply to operation and maintenance over 10 years will help optimize project economics and lay a good foundation for both companies to further explore the nearshore market in Vietnam,” said Nguyen Trung Thanh, deputy CEO of Tan Hoan Cau JSC.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is partnership between German engineering firm Siemens and Spanish wind developer Gamesa and is one of the largest operators in offshore, onshore and wind power services.
