Siemens Gamesa Secures Texas Projects


(Americas) Two New Onshore Wind Farms



Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa has announced two onshore wind project in Texas, with breakbulk transport of components scheduled for 2021.

The projects will involve delivery of 65 SG 5.0-145 wind turbines, providing 325 megawatts of power in total. Both sites are expected to be commissioned by the end of next year.

“An order of this size evidences the strong suitability and success of the SG 5.0-145 for the U.S. market. We are proud to contribute enough low cost, clean energy for nearly 100,000 average U.S. households to Texas, a leading state in wind energy,” said Shannon Sturgil, CEO of Onshore North America at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.
 
Based in Zamudio, Spain, Siemens Gamesa is a Spanish-German joint venture and one of the largest operators in offshore, onshore and wind power services. The firm said the latest project wins take its total installed capacity to nearly 6 gigawatts in Texas.
