SAL Moves Wärtsilä Engine

Breakbulk shipping line SAL Heavy Lift has delivered a heavy diesel engine from Finland to Bangladesh.

The over-dimensional Wärtsilä engine weighed 140 tonnes and was loaded aboard the heavy-lift vessel Annette in Mäntyluoto, Finland. The consignment was then shipped direct to Mongla, Bangladesh, where a team from SAL oversaw discharge and import.

“Despite the cold winter weather, SAL Heavy Lift, loaded engine, together with additional six 71-ton generators,” a spokesperson for SAL said.

A subsidiary of German shipping group Harren, SAL Heavy Lift operates a fleet of 16 heavy-lift vessels with combined crane capacities up to 2,000 tonnes. The firm is a member of the Cargo Equipment Experts network.
