Megalift Delivers Perak Cryogenic Tanks

Gas Plant Shipment via Lumut Port

Project cargo handler Megalift has moved a set of equipment for a new industrial gas plant in Perak, Malaysia.

The consignment comprised three cryogenic storage tanks imported from Japan and transferred via Lumut Port. The largest of these weighed 92 tonnes and measured 29 meters in length.

"Due to the weight and size of the cargo, road transportation in full was not possible so we resorted to moving them via sea. The location of the plant is far from the major port of Malaysia, Port Klang, so we did a double banking procedure with a barge berthing alongside the mother vessel for the cargo to be discharged directly,” a spokesperson for Megalift said.

Headquartered in Selangor, Malaysia, Megalift provides logistics services for the transport of heavy and oversized cargoes, lifting and installation, crane rigging, barging and chartering of ships and specialized equipment. The firm is a member of the Project Cargo Network.
