IRClass Eyes Asia-Pacific Growth

Classification Society Plans Indonesia, China Expansion

Shipping classification society the Indian Register of Shipping, or IRClass, has expanded its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

The organization has recently received authorization from the flag administrations of Malaysia and Thailand and expects further expansion in Indonesia and China in the coming months.

“For IRClass, these contract wins underlines the growing trust in the IRClass brand and our commitment to owners in Asia … we see great value to have a regional headquarter in [Singapore] where its maritime sector is constantly developing – tapping on digitalization and acquiring new technologies,” said Suresh Sinha, managing director of IRClass.

Founded in India in 1975, the Indian Register of Shipping is an independent ship classification society and a part of the 13-member International Association of Classification Societies.
