(Global) Leadership Changes

Airfreight firm IAG Cargo has appointed Darren Peek as head of sales, as it seeks to expand its global sales reach. Peek brings more than 25 years’ experience in the industry and moves from a prior role as regional commercial manager for Europe & Africa at IAG.

Fellow aviation firm Virgin Atlantic Cargo meanwhile has appointed Jack Jiang as regional sales manager for Shanghai. He joins the firm as part of an expansion of its Shanghai operation and brings 14 years cross-industry experience.

“We are thrilled to have Jack join our team … the Shanghai region will continue to go from strength to strength,” said Steve Buckerfield, director of cargo sales as Virgin Atlantic.

Industry body SkyTeam Cargo Alliance also made changes to its leadership, appointing Omar Hariri as chair of its executive board. Hariri is Saudia Cargo chief executive and will replace Shawn Cole, vice president cargo of Delta Airlines.

“It will be an honour chairing the board of SkyTeam Cargo, the largest alliance in the cargo industry, accounting for nearly 20 percent of the global air cargo movement,” Hariri said.


ATA, DNV GL appoint chairs

In the U.S. the American Trucking Associations has elected Sherri Garner Brumbaugh, as its 76th chair. Brumbaugh is president and CEO of Garner Transportation Group, and replaces former chair Randy Guillot, president of Triple G Express and Southeastern Motor Freight.

Certification body DNV GL also added a new chair, appointing Jon Fredrik Baksaas, the former CEO of Telenor to the role. He has served as a member of the DNV Council for 12 years. 

Freight specialist XPO Logistics also changed its leadership structure, picking Alex Santoro as chief commercial officer, effective immediately. He will serve in the role alongside his position as executive vice president, operations.
