Gulftainer Appoints Menkhorst CEO


(MENA) Digital Transformation Strategy



Emirati logistics firm Gulftainer has appointed Charles Menkhorst as its new CEO.

Menkhorst brings more than 25 years of experience in the maritime industry and replaces outgoing CEO Peter Richards. Menkhorst will lead the company’s digital transformation drive, which is focused on investment in Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, autonomous drones, big data and advanced analytics, and blockchain.

“Charles Menkhorst brings a wealth of supply chain experience with him, which will prove invaluable in driving Gulftainer into its next chapter of growth. Charles will also lead Gulftainer’s digital transformation strategy and the development of sustainable infrastructure across our operations globally,” said Badr Jafar, chairman of Gulftainer.

Headquartered in Sharjah in the UAE, Gulftainer is a subsidiary of Crescent Enterprises. The company operates three ports on behalf of the Sharjah Port Authority as well as port and terminal facilities around the world.
