Damen Receives Multibuster Design Award

Multipurpose Vessel Scoops MASTECH Award

Shipbuilder Albwardy Damen’s has received a design award for its new Multibuster 8020 shallow-draft, multipurpose vessel.

The prize was awarded at the MASTECH international marine technical conference and based on a number of factors, including the draft and the deck strength. At 80 metres in length, it is the largest vessel to be built at Albwardy Damen Sharjah and yet features design draught of just 3.5 meters.

“At Damen we have been extremely successful with shallow draft workboats, notably our Shoalbuster and Multicat ranges. These boats were originally mainly used in the dredging industry but have since became very popular in the oil and gas industry as well,” said Pascal Slingerland, regional director Middle East for Damen.

Albwardy Damen is part of the Damen Shipyards Group which operates 32 shipbuilding and repair yards worldwide. The firm is headquartered in Nijkerk, in the Netherlands, and employs about 9,000 people globally to deliver around 180 vessels annually.
