Blue Water Delivers Anaklia Port Services

Cargo shipping line Blue Water is to deliver breakbulk handling services for the Anaklia Deep Sea Port as part of a services contract with developer Anaklia Development Consortium.

The agreement will see Blue Water provide vessel agency services, port handling and stevedoring, crew change, customs services as well as breakbulk transport for the US$ 2.5 billion project.

“As a winner of the first phase of the Anaklia project and a subcontractor of ADC, Van Oord – with whom we have a long-time working relationship - have subsequently appointed Blue Water as their local freight forwarding agent on the project," said Shalva Gabechava, general manager at Blue Water.

Port construction will be divided into nine phases, with the first phase due to start receiving ships in 2021. Once fully complete, Anaklia is expected to become one of the largest ports in the Black Sea region.
