BIFA Welcomes Grant Deadline Extension

(Europe) £7.5 Million in Funding Still Available

The British International Freight Association has welcomed a deadline extension for firms to apply for customs support funding from the government.

Ahead of upcoming changes in customs processes, when the UK leaves the EU at the start of January 2021, businesses can apply for customs training grants to help them prepare. An estimated £7.5 million is still unclaimed from HMRC for training and the upgrade of IT systems.

“The news of a further extension to the deadline for this funding is very welcome, and we are encouraging our members who believe they might benefit to apply; if they have not done so already,” said Robert Keen, director general of BIFA.

BIFA is an industry association run by its members and represents UK breakbulk operators and companies engaged in the international movement of freight.
