First Wind has agreed to buy 77 wind turbines from Danish manufacturer Vestas for projects in Maine and Washington.
The Boston-based wind developer has earmarked 19 of the 1.8-megawatt turbines for its 34-megawatt Bull Hill Wind project in Hancock County, Maine, according to a company statement.
The balance of the turbines will be installed at First Winds 105-megawatt Palouse Wind project in Whitman County, Washington. Site work is underway.
The contracts for both projects include delivery and commissioning along with a 10-year service and maintenance agreement. Deliveries for Palouse and Bull Hill are scheduled for mid-2012, and both projects are expected to be commissioned and operational in late 2012.
