As 2011 came to a close, Vestas announced it had won six orders to supply wind turbines to projects planned throughout Europe.
Vestas received an order for 17 of its 3.0-megawatt land-based turbines for a project in Poland. Delivery is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2012 and finish by the end of the year.
The Danish turbine manufacturer also received two orders from key account France’s EDF Energies Nouvelles for 19 of its 2.0-megawatt turbines for installation at the Gargano wind farm in Apulia, Italy, and a dozen 2.0-megawatt units at the Eckolstädt wind farm, in Thüringen, Germany. The Italy-bound turbines will be delivered in July 2012 and the German-bound turbines in August 2012.
Vestas will also be shipping 18 turbines to a project in the U.K. Delivery of the 3.0-megawatt turbines is scheduled for early this year; further details could not be disclosed, according to a company statement.
Eight 3.0-megawatt turbines have been ordered by VSB Energies Nouvelles for its Greneville wind power plant, located in the northeast of Orleans in France. The turbines are scheduled to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Finally, Vestas received an order from a joint venture consisting of Arise Windpower AB and Platina Partners for delivery of 23 of its 3.0-megawatt turbines for the Jädraås wind power park in Sweden. In October, Vestas won the first round of 43 turbines for this project. Delivery of all 66 turbines is scheduled to be completed in early 2013.
