German turbine manufacturer Nordex has won a contract to supply, build and commission a 42.5-megawatt wind farm in Ireland for utility Bord Gais Energy.
Garracummer will be located in project in county Tipperary on the central plain of Ireland. Nordex will install 17 of its 2.5-megawatt turbines, according to a company statement. Commissioning is scheduled for August 2012.
Under an agreement signed in October of last year, Nordex could supply an additional 200 megawatts of turbines to Bord Gais Energy over the next three years.
