Mainstream to Build Scottish Offshore Wind Project

Breakbulk Online - News Story

Wind energy developer Mainstream Renewable Power has signed an agreement with the Crown Estate to lease Scottish territorial waters to build a 450-megawatt wind farm.

STI Neart is located in the Outer Forth Estuary. Earlier this year, the Scottish government's Strategic Environmental Assessment officials designated the area as one of six suitable for development, according to a statement from the Dublin-based developer.

The company plans to submit an application for evironmental consents this year. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2014.
