Alstom and its consortium partner, Hydrochina Huadong Engineering have signed a US$24 million contract with Vietnam Electricity for the Song Bung 4 hydropower project in Vietnam.
The project will be constructed 43 kilometers from Danang city on Vietnam's Bung River.
The consortium will provide electro-mechanical equipment and technical services for the project, including two of Alstom's 78-megawatt Francis turbine-generator sets. The contract covers the equipment's design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and testing.
Upon completion, the Song Bung 4 project will supply power to central Vietnam. The first turbine unit will be commissioned by 2014, according to local reports.
