Breakbulk Online - News Story

Wärtsilä has won three contracts to supply power plant generating equipment to Bangladesh. The total output of these plants will exceed 250 megawatts.

The Finnish power equipment company will supply 17 engines and auxiliary units to Ace Alliance Power for a 150-megawatt project. The second order from Raj-Lanka Power Company consists of six generating sets with auxiliaries for a 50-megawatt plant. The third order is from Max-Lanka Power for a 50-megawatt project that will initially use heavy fuel oil, but switch to natural gas when a supply becomes available, according to a company statement.

The Ace plant is scheduled to be operational before the end of 2012 and the other two plants will be producing power by April 2013.
