State-owned Bangladesh Power Development Board has signed contracts totaling US$1.4 billion with a private sector consortium led by Orion Group and Chinese Long King to build three coal-fired plants.
A 522-megawatt power plant will be built at Maowa in Munshiganj, and two 282.67-megawatt power plants will be built in Chittagong and Khulna, according to the Financial Express in Bangladesh.
The Maowa plant is scheduled to be completed with the next 45 month, while the two other plants will be constructed within 36 months. All three plants will burn imported coal.
