Zhangjiagang Pohang Stainless Steel, a Chinese stainless-steelmaker, has ordered a 160-ton ladle furnace with a ladle turret from Siemens.
The new furnace will be installed in the existing ZPSS steel plant located in the town of Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu Province, China. Siemens VAI Metals Technologies in Germany will manufacture the main components, including the current-conducting electrode arms and the high-current busbar system.
Siemens in China will handle the production and delivery of the mechanical components, according to a company statement.
ZPSS is a joint venture of the Jiangsu-Shagang Group and Posco, a Korean steelmaker. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2012.
