Sarens Moves UtARK Bridge Parts

Engineered transport provider Sarens Group has moved prefabricated bridge parts from construction yards in the Netherlands to the Utrecht-Amsterdam-Rhine Canal, or UtARK.

The giant bridge sections weighed up to 520 tonnes and measured 57 meters long, 14 meters wide and 6 meters high. Sarens completed the project on behalf of contractor HSM Steel Structures.

The project team from Sarens performed the load out of the center piece arch at the HSM construction yard in Schiedam, and the center piece deck from the Hollandia construction yard in Krimpen aan den IJsell and the transported these parts along the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal to Utrecht.

“This new steel bridge over the Amsterdam Rijnkanaal will accommodate a railroad track expansion to four tracks between Utrecht Central Station and the Leidsche Rijn station,” a spokesperson for Sarens said.
