A hovercraft that will be part of rescue operations in the Straits of Singapore and the Johore Straits was this month loaded aboard a flatrack on the container vessel NYK Oceanus, bound for Singapore from Southampton, U.K. The Griffon 8000TD hovercraft, built by Griffon Hoverwork of Southampton, is 21 meters long and weighs 27 metric tons.

U.K.-based freight forwarder and marine logistics provider Peters & May Global Logistics oversaw the hovercraft’s transport. The forwarder recently agreed to handle all national and international shipments for Griffon Hoverwork. In addition, the forwarder handles project cargo such as cars, trucks and oversized vehicles, factory machinery, pipelines, generators and wind turbines.
Peters & May’s first major hovercraft shipment for Griffon was in September, when six 380TDs were air freighted to Abu Dhabi. Earlier this month, another Griffon 8100TD was dispatched to Kuwait for the Kuwait Coast Guard.
