Saudi Aramco Looks for Bids on Wasit Gas Plant

Breakbulk Online - News Story

State-owned Saudi Arabian Oil Company has asked for bids from twelve pre-qualified companies for construction of the Wasit gas plant at Moneefa. It will be, when completed in 2014, the largest gas plant in the kingdom. Estimates are that the project will cost from $6 billion to $8 billion, according to Industrial Info Resources.

The four construction packages to be bid on include a cogeneration power plant, a gas unit, a sulfur-recovery unit with its associated utilities, and a natural gas liquid fractionation plant, according to IIR. The contract should be awarded in January 2011. Front-end engineering design for Wasit was done by Canada-based SNC-Lavalin, according to IIR.
