Powership Gas Engines Transported

Breakbulk Online - News Story

Turkish logistics company Kita Transport Services moved three 255-ton gas engines from St. Nazaire, France, to Turkey for the assembly of the world’s first powership, a vessel capable of producing energy at sea. The engines were moved by heavy-lift vessel to the powership, which was built at Tuzla Shipyard near Istanbul and commissioned to Basra, Iraq. The vessel has a capacity of 144 megawatts.

A second powership is currently being built for Pakistan. Kita Transport Services will transport the six 325-ton gas engines once the vessel is completed. Kita Transport Services operates primarily in Turkey, the Balkans, the CIS countries and the Middle East. The company is a member of the Global Project Logistics Network.
