NMPT Handles Cargo for MRPL Project

New Mangalore Port Trust has handled the first batch of over-dimensional cargo for Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd’s third-phase expansion project.

Six machines weighing 900 tons apiece arrived recently on the Fair Player at New Mangalore Port. Larsen and Toubro manufactured the machines at its Hazira plant.

The unloading operation, which took 4.5 hours, was handled by Sri Ganesh Shipping Agency and Lift and Shift of Mumbai, using 48-axel trailers. The machines are being transported from the port to the MRPL site on a newly built ODC road near Kiocl.

GAC Shipping Pvt Ltd is the agent of the vessel.

New Mangalore Port has been handling large volumes of project cargo meant for mega projects such as the expansion of MRPL’s third phase, Suzlon, Udupi Power Corp., Bharati Shipyard and Tebma Shipyard.
