New Chilean Copper Mine Under Way

Fluor has been awarded a $1.3 billion EPC contract for Minera Lumina Copper’s Caserones project in northern Chile, according to Industrial Info Resources. The project will include constructing an open pit mine, a concentrator and a solvent extraction/electro-winning plant. Early engineering work began in April and construction should be completed by October, 2013, IIR said.
