Jetty Modules Arrive in Australia

Breakbulk Online - News Story

Modules to be used to build a jetty for exporting Australian iron ore were transported from Nantong, China to Port Hedland, Western Australia over the course of four voyages this summer. Heavy-lift carrier SAL, based in Germany, performed the voyages in seven days’ transit time each, moving a total of more than 90,000 freight tons for the project.

SAL operates 14 heavy-lift vessels with lift capacities of up to 1,400 metric tons and will have vessels with lift capacities of up to 2,000 metric tons by the end of 2010, the carrier said.
