Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, a specialist in finished vehicle and rolling equipment logistics, is supporting the Port of Zeebrugge at its open day in the Belgium-EU Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai on 15 September 2010.
Trond Tonjum, Managing Director of WWL China said, “Continued strong Chinese government support for the construction sector is leading to continued growth in projects and better than expected equipment sales in 2010. That and the continuing emergence of indigenous Chinese automotive brands and the growing sales of 4x4s and luxury car brands from Europe to China positions us well in building our market share in China."
Mr Tonjum and Werner Van Dessel, Managing Director, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics Benelux will join the port delegation headed by Joachim Coens, Chairman and Managing Director of the Port of Zeebrugge Authority to showcase to Chinese manufacturers the benefits of using Zeebrugge for the import and export of new vehicles and rolling equipment.
Expo 2010 which opened in May is expected to attract over 70 million visitors by the time it closes at the end of October this year.
Werner van Dessel said, “Our flagship vehicle processing centre (VPC) in Zeebrugge is uniquely placed to help Chinese vehicle and equipment makers prepare their products for European markets.”
“With the excellent terminal, processing and transport links we posses at the port, we believe that Zeebrugge provides Chinese OEMs with an ideal gateway into their Western and Eastern European markets. Using our integrated ocean services, inland transport, terminal management and technical services model we have the ability to offer automotive and high and heavy equipment makers a tailor-made supply chain management solution for their products into the Benelux and beyond,” he said.
“Zeebrugge provides a vital link in WWL’s logistics network in Europe. WWL has the infrastructure to offer a range of pan-European distribution solutions to Chinese importers. We have the expertise to provide logistics for finished vehicles and high and heavy equipment across Europe in a timely, efficient and cost effective way,” Werner concluded.
“Our extensive knowledge and strong presence in China coupled with our terminal and VPC operations in all major import/export ports in China enables us to provide an integrated logistics service for both European customers exporting to China and Chinese manufacturers importing products into Europe,” Mr. Tonjum explained.
