After blowing up suddenly in the Gulf of Mexico on Monday, Tropical Storm Hermine came ashore in northeastern Mexico late Monday night and is expected to move north-northwest across Texas, weakening to a tropical depression by Tuesday evening.
Officials at the Port of Brownsville, Tex., near the Mexican border, said Tuesday morning that the port was not damaged by the storm and was open for landside business. However, no ships were moving pending a survey of the ship channel.
