India's busiest Ports of Jawaharlal Nehru (Nhava Sheva) and Mumbai lifted all restrictions imposed earlier for maritime traffic following the MSC Chitra-Khalijia-3 collision in the main harbor channel Aug. 7.
"Ships are being allowed to move in and out of the harbor during daylight and night hours with maximum available drafts," Nehru said in a statement.
"Draft restrictions on vessels moving in and out of the harbor stand withdrawn both during daylight and night hours," Mumbai Port officials said.
The two ports, which share a common fairway, were closed for nearly a week because of the collision, and reopened Aug. 13 to shallow-draft traffic, initially supported by naval escort vessels.
