Breakbulk Online - News Story

Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. has announced a new class of super heavy-lift crane called the AFRD.

Designed to meet the requirements of nuclear power plant construction, the cranes will allow shorter construction schedules and more flexible erection sequences.

Two designs are currently in production. The Bigge125D will have a maximum lifting capacity of 4,000 tons, while a second will exceed the lift and load moment capacity of the 125D. The cranes will handle loads in excess of 1,000 tons at radii.

The first two units of the super heavy-lift cranes are in production and scheduled to be in service in 2011.
