Hyundai Heavy Industries has loaded an offshore platform onto a barge for final construction. HHI built the platform for Woodside Energy’s North Rankin 2 project. At 23,600 tons, the topside is the world’s largest offshore platform, according to an HHI statement.
HHI jacked up the topside a total of 26.5 meters and installed it on a provisional transport frame. The platform measured 100 meters long, 50 meters wide and 80 meters high.
Once construction is complete, the NR2 platform will sail for Australia in mid-December. It will be installed on an offshore jacket in North Rankin and Perseus fields.
