Two shipyard workers have died and three people have been hospitalized in an explosion on a Gearbulk vessel in Brazil.
The Bahamas-registered Auk Arrow has been berthed at the Enavi Shipyard in Nitoroi across the bay from Rio de Janeiro since July 25 to undergo water ballast tank repairs.
The 27,952-gross-ton vessel is managed by Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Skipsrederi A/S.
None of the ship’s 31 crew members, all of Indian nationality, were injured in the Monday blast, according to a company statement.
