Swire Pacific Offshore took delivery of the last two of its eight new "P" Class anchor handling tug supply vessels, Pacific Python and Pacific Porpoise from Qingdao Qianjin Shipyard in Qingdao, China.
Equipped with a 150-tonne line pull winch, Pacific Python and Pacific Porpoise are IMT957 design vessels, with 5,000 brake horse power and a bollard pull of 64 tonnes, according to a statement from the Singapore-based company.
The pair will be deployed to SPO's West African operations. The delivery of these two new vessels will increase SPO's fleet size to 77 vessels, with an average age of ten years.
SPO continues to build its fleet. SPO recently announced an order for four larger AHTS vessels with 17,850 BHP AHTS. SPO will take delivery between mid-2013 to 2014. The company also has four sister "D" Class vessels under construction at Drydocks World shipyard in Singapore that scheduled for delivery in 2012 and 2014. It has also exercised an option to acquire a second wind farm installation vessel for delivery in 2012 after its initial order last year.
