Breakbulk Online - News Story

Seaboard Marine is readying the vessels Seaboard Star and Seaboard Florida for a new bi-weekly roll-on, roll-off service between Miami and the west coast of South America, expanding its service to Ecuador, Peru and Chile.

The Seaboard Florida is scheduled to leave the Port of Miami, where Seaboard Marine is based, on Saturday, Aug. 14, followed by the Seaboard Star on Aug. 28. The vessels will have the fastest transit times in the market according to Bob Schicchi, vice president for Seaboard’s South America services. For instance, the southbound sailing will reach Callao, Peru, in nine days.

Each vessel has a deadweight capacity of 12,169 tons, an on-board crane and can carry machinery, trucks, tractors, buses, cars, shipper-owned trailers, and other types of wheeled cargo.
