Pollcat Heads for Nigeria

Breakbulk Online - News Story

Denmark’s Blue Water Shipping has handled the transport of an anti-pollution workboat to Nigeria for Desmi RO-Clean U.K.

Desmi RO-Clean sold the workboat, known as a pollcat, to the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, a government organization operating under the Federal Ministry of Environment, Housing and Urban development. The pollcat will be assisting in the cleanup of oil spills in Nigerian ports.

The pollcat was navigated through the English Channel from Portland to the Port of Antwerp in Belgium, where it was loaded directly from the sea onto a multi-purpose ship, according to a company statement.

The vessel is scheduled to be delivered in Port Onne, Nigeria, at the end of August 2011.
