Multipurpose Pontoon Serves European Coast

Netherlands-based heavy-lift, transport and salvage company Mammoet Maritime recently extended its fleet with a multipurpose pontoon. The Schelde will be used for both ro-ro and conventional transport and to launch large ships.

The new pontoon is 85 meters long (279 feet) and 22 meters wide (72 feet). It will be used in the coastal waters of Benelux, Germany, Scandinavia, France and the U.K. to serve the offshore, shipbuilding and civil engineering industries, according to the company.
