Damen Adds Five Pontoons to Orderbook

Damen Pontoons & Barges signed three contracts for five purpose-built Damen Stan Pontoons. Mammoet Maritime in the Netherlands ordered two vessels, U.K.-based Silverburn Shipping ordered another pair and Rhumb Maritime in Australia ordered the fifth pontoon.

Rhumb’s pontoon measures 41 meters long and 13 meters wide and will be used by the chartering company use in the Asia-Pacific region. Silverburn’s pontoons are certified as ice class and will be used in Russian inland waterways. The Mammoet pair will be used for worldwide transport, salvage operations and load-outs.

Most of the Stan Pontoons will be built at Damen´s Chinese partner yard Jiangsu Ganghua Shipyards. Delivery of the pontoons will take place between March and September 2012, according to the Netherlands-based shipbuilder.
