BBC Expands Heavy-Lift Fleet

Breakbulk Online - News Story

BBC Chartering took delivery of three newbuildings in January. The BBC Amethyst, the BBC Belem and the BBC Mont Blanc have started their service for the German heavy-lift operator.

The 14,360-deadweight-ton BBC Amethystis the second delivery in a series of 14 planned newbuildings. Like sister vessel BBC Amber, it has a combined lifting capacity of 800 tonnes. The BBC Belem is the third in a series of eight smaller 8,000-deadweight-ton vessels, each with a pair of 80-tonne-capacity onboard cranes.

The BBC Mont Blanc is the fourth vessel in BBC's series of 9,300-deadweight-ton ships that the company refers to as flexible workhorses. The BBC Mont Blanc has a pair of cranes with a combined lifting capacity of 700 tonnes. It recently completed its maiden voyage from Ulsan in South Korea to Kakinda in India on a full charter basis.
