Freight carrier Virgin Australia has launched a daily service from Melbourne to Hong Kong, in response to “growing demand” from industry.
The airline will operate Airbus A330-200 flights daily from Nov. 12, building from the five weekly flights added to this route in July. Continued inward business investment in Melbourne is expected to sustain long-term cargo demand.
Business indicators “show not only a consistent level of demand from our current customers but also opportunities for new traffic like we have started to generate from Tasmania,” said Pip Palmer, Virgin Atlantic’s regional sales manager, Australia and New Zealand.
Virgin Atlantic Cargo is freight division of Virgin airlines and provides long-haul international sales for Virgin Australia.
