Breakbulk shipping line Blue Water has appointed Søren N. Thomsen as CEO. He replaces CEO and founder Kurt Skov, and is expected to focus on completing ongoing organizational changes and capitalizing on recent investments in terminals and IT systems.
“The aim is that we can create better stability in our business in the future – among other things through improved profits and a more focused strategy. With his comprehensive experience, I am sure that Søren can contribute to bringing Blue Water forward in the right direction and pace in close interaction with the rest of management,” Skov said.
The firm forecasts revenue from breakbulk projects in Kazakhstan will be the key driver for growth in 2018, from contracts with an overall value of about US$800 million.
Skov will soon return to his role as executive chairman. Blue Water operates 55 offices in more than 26 countries worldwide and is headquartered in Esbjerg on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in southwest Denmark.
