Multipurpose carrier Swire Shipping said it will upgrade its North Asia Express service from September, bringing greater connectivity between Townsville, Australia, and Asia.
The firm plans to deploy “modern and bigger vessels” to improve capacity and bring transit times from Townsville to Singapore down to eight-days, 17 days from Shanghai and 15-day transit from Ningbo.
“Swire has a long-term commitment to Australia … Our North Asia Express service enhancement, in particular, caters to the shipping needs of the businesses and community in Townsville and will hopefully boost trade for North Queensland,” said Jeremy Sutton, general manager, Swire Shipping.
Swire Shipping operates a fleet of multipurpose ships capable of carrying a range of cargoes including containerized, refrigerated, project, breakbulk and heavy-lift cargoes around the globe. The firm is the liner shipping division of The China Navigation Co.
