Freight firm McCallum Cargo has delivered a consignment of outsized laundry equipment to Sri Lanka from locations around the world.
The multifaceted project required logistics for shipments from the U.S, the Czech Republic, China and India. The out-of-gauge components in the consignment were moved to the site at night under a police escort.
“The most challenging parts of the project were the inland logistics transportation to the site – which was 125 kilometers away from the port and airport – and the positioning of the machinery at the site,” said Heresh Fernando, head of freight and operations at McCallum.
Based in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo, McCallum Cargo is the newest member to join the Universal Freight Organisation, a an ISO certified network for independent freight forwarders worldwide.
