Heavy-lift firm Mammoet has moved an oversized crystallizer vessel at the KSPC Bethune mine in Saskatchewan, Canada.
The vessel weighed 252.8 tonnes and was moved on behalf of developer K+S Potash Canada. The lift was carried out using an LR11350 crane and required careful handling due to clearance of less than 155 millimeters.
“A comprehensive lifting plan was developed to execute the placement of the crystallizer. To facilitate the lift and achieve the absolute minimum radii necessary to safely set the vessel it was necessary to partly deconstruct an adjacent building,” said Bryce Petersen, Mammoet Crane Supervisor.
Headquartered in Schiedam in the Netherlands, Mammoet provides a range of heavy-lift services from detailed logistics planning and transportation to crane rental.
