Project cargo specialist ALE has delivered 30 components for two Sandvik bucket wheel stacker reclaimers to Richards Bay Coal Terminal, South Africa.
The consignment involved equipment weighing up to 139 tonnes and measuring up to 63 meters in length. ALE transported the cargo 1.2 kilometers to the laydown area using 28 axle lines of SPMT in a configuration of 4 file 14.
“By designing a bespoke support frame for the particularly long components, we could provide a solution that could clear the route. We also faced the challenge of working within a confined space at the port, with limited storage facilities,” said Vivian Young, project manager at ALE.
ALE operates more than 30 offices globally and provides heavy-lift services in the oil and gas, civil, nuclear, offshore, renewables, petrochemical, ports, marine, minerals and metals and mining sectors.
