Welcome to the second annual Breakbulk Middle East, the only exhibition and conference in the region specifically for the project cargo and breakbulk industry. More than 50 exhibitors, representing the end-to-end value chain for the transport of oversize cargo, will be present. Major participants include Abu Dhabi Ports, DP World, Bahri and Almajdouie Logistics. In addition, the event will see over 100 cargo owners — the decision makers in our industry — who are the key contacts needed for transport, logistics and other providers to find new business.

Breakbulk Middle East will be held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority.  At a recent press conference, H.E. Dr. Abdullah Salem Al Katheeri, Director General of the FTA, said that Breakbulk Middle East is important to the region to support the UAE’s developing professional cargo system. “It is proven from last year to this year the success of this conference and exhibition,” he said. “It is an opportunity to meet the decision makers.”

Shipping project cargo is unlike any other type of cargo — each project is unique and moves under ever-changing conditions. The event offers a full conference schedule where key industry members share their knowledge and their experience. Speakers include leaders from Fluor, Petrofac, Saudi Aramco and Technip.

“We attend Breakbulk events primarily because they have been the catalyst for industry-relevant conversations between key players. Every year we see and smell the industry health through structured and unstructured conversations,” Cyril Joseph Varghese, Logistics Director, FLUOR.

Cargo owners will play an even bigger role in initiating these types of conversations. For the first time, delegates will have the opportunity to lunch with the cargo owner of their choice. Varghese, along with peers from Bechtel, GE Power Services, SNC Lavalin, Air Liquide, Technip and NOV Rig Systems, will host tables at the VIP luncheons on Tuesday and Wednesday from 13:00 to 14:00. These luncheons will also include representatives from FTA, the leading exhibitor companies and members of the press.
