Robin Meech is Managing Director of Marine and Energy Consulting, an independent consultancy practice focusing on the marine industry with an emphasis on the transport of energy.He has a particular interest in the bunker sector where he has undertaken assignments for ship owners, the Majors as well as independent traders and national oil companies. He advises companies in the bunker sector on environmental issues, forming alliances, purchasing strategies, organisation, new business ventures, credit insurance, logistics, IT systems and e-business.
Robin Meech has comprehensive experience in environmental issues having been a member of IMO Steering Committee advising to the introduction of the global cap in 2020. He has been a director of an independent tanker company where his responsibilities included managing the purchasing of bunkers. Robin Meech is currently co-authoring “Outlook for Bunker Fuel Oil and Heavy Fuel Oil to 2035” a report reflecting the 2020 global cap that assesses the global supply-demand balances for low and high fuels oil due for publication early in 2017. He is also co-author of the book “Bunkers – An Analysis of the Technical and Environmental Issues”. He is currently chairman of the International Bunker Industry Association.
Marine and Energy Consulting (MECL), is a UK based independent consultancy established in 2001. The main focus of the assignments undertaken by the company is on oil logistics and all aspects of the bunker sector. Much of the work has required an intimate knowledge and understanding of the commercial, technical and environmental issues facing the bunker industry as well as the escalating risks from price volatility, credit exposure and operating under increasingly stringent regulations.
The company has undertaken consulting assignments for over 60 clients ranging from Major oil companies, large ship owners, investment houses, marine engine manufactures, terminal and port operators both independent and government owned organisations as well as the EU and IMO.
MECL has subcontracted its service to many of the large consulting houses and works with a core of very experienced professionals.
