Tony Ball has worked in international freight forwarding, mainly breakbulk cargoes and oversized loads by road, for 35 years. He has managed at the owner/manager level, with a focus on the Middle East and CIS, including Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. With Air Products, Ball is involved in the shipment of gas separation columns and associated equipment from global manufacturing bases in China, Malaysia, India, Turkey, and the U.S. to Russia, Africa, Northern Asia, India, Europe, the Arabian Gulf and the ASEAN region. His position sees spending of about US$10 million annually on international freight and related services and global cargo movement by all modes.
Air Products & Chemicals Inc. is an NYSE-listed company and a market leader in the global supply of industrial gases and specialty chemicals. Through a global network of manufacturing plants and distribution networks the company services major industrial customers across almost every industry. The corporation employs about 16,000 people and had annual turnover in 2016 of US$7.5 billion. The corporation is a major shipper of hazardous products in bulk containers and IBCs and heavy engineering equipment. It manufactures gas separation columns in fully owned factories in the U.S., China and Malaysia. Oversized engineering equipment such as compressors, turbines and storage tanks are purchased from a global network of suppliers, making Air Products a regular user of global breakbulk and heavy-lift shipping.
