Fluor has signed a contract with the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport to provide program management consultancy services for the Emirate's new US$7 billion Integrated Public Transportation Network.
Texas-based engineering, procurement and construction firm Fluor will provide consulting services to the department on all aspects of the program including transportation modeling, system integration, design, procurement, construction, commercial development, funding analysis and other relevant components for the overall program, according to a company statement.
The new mass transit system will consist of a primarily underground metro rail system to connect the proposed Central Business District with Sowwah Island, Reem Island, Saadiyat Island, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi International Airport, Masdar, the Capital City District and other areas
Construction is scheduled to start in 2011 with completion in 2016.
