Rockets move in Russia
November 17, 2009Transport Systems Ltd, a Russian freight forwarder, recently moved two Soyuz-ST space rockets to the launching complex at the Guiana Space Centre (GSC) in Russia.
The dangerous IMO 1 class cargo was comprise of 21 specialized oversized containers, 30 standard containers, flat-racks, tank-containers and additional equipment and rocket fuel.
The move started near Moscow and Samara and involved transporting the cargo by rail and truck to the Port of St.Petersburg.
The cargo was installed and mounted by Transy specialists onto customized trailers. The trailers were customized by installing specialized equipment and connecting the equipment to specialized containers, cradles and lodgements in the port area.
The cargo was loaded onboard a roll-on, roll-off vessel with assistance from a paris of shore cranes.
Transy is a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium Ltd, or WWPC.
