WWL’s Orcelle Fund Seeks Green Maritime Projects
November 6, 2009The Orcelle Fund, a grant-awarding body created by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, is looking for innovative new maritime projects to support. The fund provides seed capital for projects developing alternative maritime energy sources and energy-efficient technology. The goal is to find projects with potential commercial viability.
WWL, a global roll on, roll off and project cargo carrier, has been a leader in promoting green, environment-friendly business policies and programs for many years. As an extension of these principals, the carrier launched the Orcelle Fund in 2007. The fund is named for the
Orcelle Fund Grants are $25,000 each. Since the program began two grants have been awarded, according to company spokesman Jon Spampinato. One of these was to support research into a fin propulsion system based on penguin movements. No firm number of grants are awarded per year; the number of awards depends on the quality of the applications. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis but the company would like interested people to apply by December 15, 2009 for consideration during the early first quarter of 2010.
