Convoy travels longer route to avoid overhead obstacles

CEA Projects and Logistics in Thailand has carried out the heavy-lift and transport for equipment for an Iraqi oil refinery.

The shipment weighed 836 tons, Cargo Equipment Experts said in a statement on behalf of its member CEA. The eight largest pieces of equipment were top-and-tail lifted using a pair of 200-ton-capacity cranes. These 65-ton units measured 14.3 meters long with diameters of 6.5 meters.

CEA also handled eight 25-ton pieces, measuring 6.8 meters long, 3 meters wide and 5.2 meters high. The heavier pieces were transported on hydraulic trailers, while the lighter pieces were moved on lob-beds.

The convoy left the factory on Thailand’s east coast to deliver the cargoes to Mataphut port. Four trips were carried out over two days in a roundabout route to avoid overpasses and other obstructions.
